How to Make an Immortal Regiment Collage

Step 1 — Prepare the Photo

Scan or photograph the veteran's portrait. These work best:

  • Military portrait or photo in uniform
  • Clear image of the face
  • Black-and-white and color shots — both work

Step 2 — Open the Editor and Choose a Format

On the "Canvas" tab:

  • A4 Portrait — for printing and carrying at the event
  • Square 1:1 — for posting on VK and social media

Open editor →

Step 3 — Choose a Layout

On the "Layout" tab:

  • 1×1 — one large portrait. The most dignified and common format
  • 2×1 — portrait and a second photo (wartime or postwar) side by side
  • 1×2 — two photos stacked vertically

Click a cell → upload the photo. Double-click to crop.

Step 4 — Design

On the "Frames" tab:

  • "No Frame" — strict and solemn look
  • "Decor" category — dark or neutral frames that don't distract from the portrait

Avoid bright colorful frames.

Step 5 — Download

Click "Export":

  • PNG / Print — for printing on a poster or A4 sheet (~4800 px)
  • PDF — for a print shop
  • JPG — for posting on social media

For Printing a Poster

If you plan to carry the portrait at the event:

  1. Choose A4 format on the "Canvas" tab
  2. 1×1 grid — portrait full page
  3. "No Frame" or a thin dark frame
  4. Export → PNG with Print quality
  5. Print on heavy paper or at a photo lab

For larger formats (A3 and above), send the file to a print shop — they will print at the size you need.

For Posting on VK

May 9 is traditionally a day of memorial posts. For a VK post:

  • Square 1:1 format
  • Portrait in a 1×1 grid
  • Neutral frame or "No Frame"
  • Export as JPG
  • Attach to a post with the veteran's name and dates of life

Collage with Multiple Photos

If you have several photos of the veteran — from different years:

  • 2×2 grid — wartime photo, peacetime photo, award document (photo), group shot
  • 2×1 grid — young soldier and postwar photo side by side

Such a collage tells the person's story as a whole.
